Directions: Use following system of equations for exercises.
{4x - 10y = -3
{.x + 12y = 3.5

1) If you want to solve the system by eliminating the x terms (with addition), by what would you multiply the second equation?

2) If you want to solve the system by eliminating the y terms (with addition), by what would you multiply the first equations?

3) What is the value of x in the solution? enter your answer as a decimal.

4) What is the value of y in the solution? Enter your answer as a decimal.

4x - 10y = -3
x + 12y = 3.5

1) If you want to solve the system by eliminating the x terms (with addition), by what would you multiply the second equation?
-4
4x-10y=-3
-4x-48y=-14
-58y=-17
y=17/58=.239

2) If you want to solve the system by eliminating the y terms (with addition), by what would you multiply the first equations?
1.2
4.8x - 12y = -3.6
x + 12y = 3.5
5.8x=-.1
x=-1/580

3) What is the value of x in the solution? enter your answer as a decimal.
x=-.0017
4) What is the value of y in the solution? Enter your answer as a decimal.
y=.239

1) mulitiply every term in the second equation by 4; subtract the resulting equation from the first one.

2) multiply every term in the first equation by 6/5; add the resulting equation to the second one.

3) x = 0.01724

4) y = 0.2931

1.multiply by -40

2.by 1.2

4.4x-10y=-3
4x+120y=35
110y=38 so x=35/110=0.32

3.4.8x-12y=3.6
0.1x+12y=3.5
4.9x=7.1
x=7.1/4.9=1.45
