Well, if I remember correctly we only heard one side of the phone conversation and Sandra Bullock said something that made it seem that he thought the relationship was moving too fast and wanted out. I don't think there was another romance, but I don't know, plus it's not really significant to plot of the movie either way. Hope that helps. I love those movies!

He didn't want the commitment. she was trying but he was always unavailable. So they just broke up. That's way she really got into doing the publicity. It took her mind off of him.
