I just rented Evil Dead and it was kinda spooky, but not my favorite. The movie can be new or old.

Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead

I like zombie movies. It makes you think of what you would do in a similar situation. Like if your best friend turned into a zombie what would you do? Would you kill or be killed? That sort of stuff.

My all-time favorite scary movie is The Shining, starring Jack Nicholson. Even though I'd already read the book, I found it to be very ominous and tension-building as the plot moved along and the main character gradually changed from good to evil. The gorgeous, isolated, hotel-in-the-mountains setting only added to the psychological thrill. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time......

The scariest movie I ever saw was called "The Sentinel"..it was about a model who rents this incredible apartment....all the tenants are very creepy...she tried to commit suicide when she was younger so, they bring the religious aspects into it....the freaks at the end really scared me....though this was a 70's movie, it was very well made and the cast was great as well....watch it at nite with someone you love.....cause it will scare you....muahahahaha.... ;)

My favorite scary movies are probably “The Ring” and “The Grudge” mostly because they don’t rely on excessive gore and bloody mayhem to illicit shrieks from the audience. Good horror, one that is ingeniously done, is mostly suggestive, and does not have to rely on childish overuse of dismembered body parts or rely heavily on other graphic elements. “The Ring” and “The Grudge” are gripping because they let you mind fill in the gaps. That is adept storytelling.

Scream 1 & 2 . Because it kept you guessing , you did'nt know who did the killing's until the end . I like movie's that have more than 1 suspect , until the last , then you know who did it .

Try "Rosemary's Baby". Old classic. Creepy. Another oldie but goodie is "Motel Hell". I like movies that are suspense scary, not bloody/gory scary

Event Horizon is my absolute favorite horror movie. It's about this spaceship that goes to hell and comes back possessed by the devil.
