Ok lets clear up some things, BC Rich isnt all that great, in fact I have only played one that I that shocked me how good it fely, but that was my friend's custom (and his parents got it for him, if he did he wouldnt have got a BC Rich), and they specialize in electrics. Ovations Celebrity's and up are the ones you need to get. The Ovation Applause, which is the one u've probably seen, is awful. The action is really bad (although it can be fixed), it feels cheap, and doesnt have the greatest sound. Ive played an Applause and then an Celeb (another friend has both), and after the Celeb i was disgusted by the Applause. You should add Seagull, Alvarez, and Takamine (if you're really lucky maybe a Big Baby Taylor or Martin, or Breedlove for around $350). You really arent gonna find a Gibson acoustic for $200 unless you are one luck mofo. Gibson doesnt make cheap guitars, thats what Epiphone is for (i dont like epiphone too much, decent but not enough for me to buy one). They were bought out by Gibson a while back, and now they make Gibson-copies w/o the detail and precision that comes for a Gibson guitar. If you're a beginner you dont need to amp your acoustic. Its not like you're gonna be doing gigs or major performances that you coulnt mic your guitar instead of amping it. And for $200 you're not gonna get much of guitar especially if its an acoustic-electric PLUS they sound better w/ aftermarket pickups. Theres nothing wrong w/ buying online, I bought my Axiom 61 keyborad on ebay, and I havent had a single issue w/ it. Also long as its is a credible seller and you are protected it'll be fine. THE funniest thing i thought when I read ur question was, why would you added this: ' For those of you who don't know what an acoustic electric is, it's an acoustic guitar except it has a port on the guitar to connect to an amplifier. " If they dont know that, you REALLY dont want them to answer....but back to answering the question. Its good you have an idea of what you want, but reconsider you're criteria. I purposely didnt answer the actually question, because I want you to take in what I said. If that changes anything great, if not great. Just want you to know
