There were originally 19 covered bridges in Madison County, but only six remain today; the Roseman Covered Bridge (The one in the movie), the Holliwell Covered Bridge, The Cedar Covered Bridge (burned down, but rebuilt using the original plans), the Cutler-Donahoe Bridge, the Hogback Covered Bridge, and the Imes Covered Bridge (the oldest of the remaining covered bridges)
So: six total, but only five completely original.

There are 6 covered bridges in Madison County, Iowa; 5 original ones and 1 that was destroyed by arson and rebuilt to the original plans using authentic methods and materials. A description of them may be found at the site below.
If you are really interested is seeing a lot of covered bridges, however, go to Parke County in SW Indiana. They have 41. They have a covered bridge festival in the fall of the year.
