Barbarism is not an ideal, it is simply a function to attain dominance by might. It is not a clever notion thought up by anyone, but the mere recognition that might makes right in nature. It has nothing to do with free will as in the case of a chaotic universe that forms out of dominating forces.

The ideas of progress in the development of civilization are tandem to barbarism where opinions about the most prolific propagation of a civil and domesticated species are matched and encountered by opposing opinions. It is these opinions that take on a barbaric tone as well, which is also found in the process of nature (interacting forces). We match our ideals and battle them using weapons of reason and logic until the development of a civilization can be meted out to sate the desires of mankind in attaining peaceful interactions with each other through less physical violence and higher domestication.

it's not an idea. rather it's a course of action purported by greed and hunger for power. cruelty evolved due to reasons of madness too.

how does it interact with progress??? as sure as reasons, as sure as change, as sure as science is involve, barbarity to certain degrees is practice. change also introduces as to such acts, and all because of progress. pruning the reasons as to why, weaving the ideas of how, scanning the line of both mindness within reality of reason, and fantasy of anatomy. scary, huh???
