The arm at the bottom of the tub does not spin and it seems there is not much water coming out.

I have already set up a service appointment but at $65 just to show up, I would rather do it myself.

Well, you don't say what is wrong with your dishwasher

1st thing to check is your drain hose(hose coming off of pump), make sure it is not lower than your dishwasher tub because if it is the water will siphone out. Tuck the hose up the back wall as far as you can. Second make sure you don't have galvanized piping filling the dishwasher which would slow the water down, also make sure you don't have a kinked pipe. 3rd Make sure the water valve is turned on all the way. One other thing, check under the float switch in either front corner of your DW and make sure nothing is under it which would keep the water from coming in.

Sounds as if it might be a belt or connector, access to which is available only by disconnecting the electrical, the water supply and the drain and the unit removing from underneath cabinet. The $65 probably covers a hour's labor...the service tech can do it way quicker than you can, and he likely has the replacement part in his truck.
