i'm from amherst...one of the worst hit parts! my power went out 8 pm on thursday....came back around 8 pm saturday...went out 4 am sunday...came back around 10:30 am sunday...i consider myself lucky because most of amherst and williamsville aren't expected to get power back until next weekend!
my school was cancelled friday...and is also cancelled for the entire week now!!!!! busses wouldn't be able to get down some of the streets...
trees are down everywhere...but not everyone got the same beating, my friend had a tree go through her window and also knock down her pool and break her basketball net...she lives in a neighborhood with a lot of large, older trees that were easily damaged.
my side of my neighborhood looks like a bomb went off...every tree has branches touching the ground...trees cracked in half...clean up lining the side of the street....
it's crazy!!!
oh and i still have to boil my water before i drink it!

Not me, but what a terrible thing to have happen already, early winter! Hope you get everything back to normal soon. We had a similar thing happen back in I think July 1998, but a few places got power disrupted and a few branches broke away while I was walking home. Luckily I never got hit on the head. You can hear them crackling. It was scary.

it was terrible. i was at work and the lights went . very scary going home, cars were stuck in the middle of the road and people just left them there. I came home and i had no power, no water, no nothing, it was cold as hell.
Thank GOD my power came back two days later, cuz i never thought i could make it. I was freezing cold, shivering and i had a candle that provided a little light. I consider myself very fortunate because some still have no power.
