I am planning to travel a relatively short distance by plane on Christmas, by then I will be 7 months pregnant. I am perfectly healthy now, and never had any morning sickness etc. Is it safe for me to fly though? Has anyone done it at her 7th month or even later?

Don't you think that is a question for your doctor?

Yes, apparently, although Sarah Palin was actually 8 months pregnant at the time. Each airline makes their own rules on allowing or disallowing pregnant women. Alaska Airlines has no such rule and thinks it should be up to the woman and her medical provider (a pro-choice position to be sure). The Governor, a vocal anti-choice Republican, chose to return to Alaska to have her 5th child despite the following risk factors: 1. She was leaking amniotic fluid (her water broke) increasing the risk of infection. 2. She was 44 years old, a risky age for childbirth. 3. The baby she was carrying had known "special challenges" (down syndrome) 4. The child was one full month premature. 5. She flew from Texas to Alaska on a commercial airline (Alaska Airlines) while while leaking amniotic fluid, a 10 or more hour flight depending on the length and location of her layover. 6. She did not inform any of the airline staff of her condition. However, Gregg Erickson, a reporter from the Anchorage Daily News, told the Daily Kos that the rumors that she was never pregnant had been investigated and debunked. So it appears that these behaviors are not those of a person faking/covering up a pregnancy but merely those of someone with terrible, terrible judgment.

I flew from Beijing to San Francisco, to Denver, to New Orleans when I was 32 weeks, 4 days. That was just 2 weeks ago. Airlines and doctors will let you fly up to 34 weeks. I was coming home to deliver my baby. My doctor wrote me a note saying that she had examined me and I would not deliver in the next two weeks. She also gave me a shot that I had to give myself a couple of hours before I boarded the plane, but that was to prevent deep vein thrombosis. If you are taking a short flight, it shouldn't matter, just make sure you book an aisle seat so you can get up to pee and just to stretch your legs.

My travel time including layovers was 20 hours from airport to airport. There were no problems, but it was torture, I have to admit.

Good luck.

I would recommend getting an "ok" from a doctor. Talk to your doctor and see what he'she says. I flew on my 20th week, which is pretty early, and still got an "ok" paper from my doctor. some airlines would require it.
after 7 months there is a bigger chance of going into a earlier labor if the pressure changes, wheather you had a good labor or not.
Good luck

Of course discuss it with your doctor, but as a general rule yes you can. Pregnant women just have to make sure that on long flights they get up and walk around since they are at higher risk for getting blood clots in their legs. You also need to drink plenty of fluid.

You can fly. Just make sure to get up and walk around the plane frequently.

yes, but many airlines require a doctors note. You need to check the airline policies. then just talk to your doctor or midwife. As long as you are healthy, they should have no problem writing one for you....

It depends on the airline. They all have different rules. Plan with them.
