Assuming you mean that the process of inventing or discovering it was serendipitous, rather than as a characteristic of the invention itself, I would have to go with the Internet, which was never intended to be anything but a way for Swiss eggheads to share ideas and papers, and wound up becoming a new dimension in the lives of virtually (sic) everyone on the planet.

Penicillin. It's saved so many lives, by leading to the advent and discovery of many other antibiotics. It's serendipitous because it was discovered somewhat accidentally.

Velcro. It can be used for in so many ways. To attach things to other things, as a watch strap, to wrap netting onto posts, As a closure for jackets on kids. The list is subject to a person's ingenuity.
