Both are great!
I can't understand people who ask such questions!
Come on, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are two ABSOLUTELY different masterpieces of literature.
They have got different genres, different styles of writing, different characters, they were written in different epochs and for different purposes! And what is the sense of comparing two absolutely different things? Moreover the Lord of the Rings has been written only to explain the hole history of the Middle Earth which is put into few other book. You must study it at least a year in order to understand it. At the beginning Harry Potter has been written as a book for children, only after it has been remade! ABSOLUTELY DIFFERENT THINGS CAN'T BE COMPARED!!!
