Birth control in any form can either completely stop your period, make it come for about 1-3 days or last longer. It sometimes makes them very irregular. I know that I had mine for about 2 weeks.

It sounds like that particular pill might not be strong enough. I had this happen and had to switch types. Ortho Tricyclen-LO are a low dose birth control pill, sometimes it just takes a few different types of pills to get to the right one.

One more thing, if she has just started the pill, it may take time for her body to adjust to them. i would give it 3 or 4 months and if nothing has changed, I would suggest she go back to the doctor and explain what is happening and they will switch her.

That doesn't sound normal. I'm on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and my period typically starts on the Thursday of the green pills and ends about the Monday after.

It could be. The pill is not guaranteed to regulate a woman's cycle, but it can for some people. Your girlfriend should probably tell the doctor who prescribed them to her and maybe they could find an alternative medication with a different dosage.

birth control pills usually reduces the time on a period. this may seem wierd, but it could have something to do with her iron level intake. I went through this same problem and my GYN said my iron level was low

Is it heavy? or just spotting? When I started on the pill, I was spotting for a couple of months. It is normal if it is spotting bc her body needs to get used to the hormones.

I had similar problems on Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I can't comment on any other brands, unfortunately.
