Celtic designs are very hot. And many have no trademark concerns to worry about. Do you have any common interests? A fave movie or animal? Certain flower? I think a vine in a circle, either Celtic or with flowers would look neat--then perhaps you could add each others initials in the center if desired. I'm not into the tribal and the bar code was funny when it first came out, but if either of you have any drawing talent (or know someone else who does) a unique design made just for you two would be a symbol to your relationship that no one else has. Good luck.

The only thing that I can tell you is to watch what you get and where you get it. I got about 5 tattoos when I was 17 and now that I am 34 I regret the places I have them. A lot of people will judge you in regards to getting a job if they are in places that can't be easily hidden.

I have three tattooes. I do not regret having the or getting them. I also suggest some of these people should check out the history of early Christians, who tattooed themselves so they would recognize fellow believers. I think the tattoo you get should reflect your personality and should be something you want to do, not just because you and your girlfriend want to be "with it." Each of you should get something that has a personal meaning to you. Good luck.

Look through magazines, on the internet etc for a design that you both like, celtic designs are nice, or go for something that you both like, or has something to do with you both, make up a family crest as such, e.g entwined birth signs, the chinese are good ones for that, my fiance and I have matching entwined chinese birth signs, his is a dragon and mine is a dog.
But remember this is for life!! Think long and hard about the design and where you are going to put it.

i would say something that you both are into like if you both like music then get a guitar. that's just an example. a symbol that really links you too together it should be something that is special to both of you. I think it is a cool idea. i hope you two have fun with it.

My girlfriend and I both got a symbol tat on our left shoulder blade. Mine stands for mysterious and hers stands for strength. I also have noticed recently that people are tatooing a bar code symbol on the back of their necks. That looks cool to.

Think of something you both did together that you will never forget, or a movie or song you both like. Get something that makes you both think of each other.
