Sinking Ship, At least you have a chance of saving yourself, with a plane there is no-where to go and what is the point of putting your head between your legs, I have heard they say to do that so your neck snaps on impact ( but I don't know how true that is)

well if your boat sinks and you have got a call out the coast guard could fly over u an still not see you.the chances of being found are slim to none.if you are on a plane an it goes down they have a fix on you rite till you crash within a few miles s better chance of being found.also as long as its not a straight down drop there is good chance you can make it through but on a boat even if you have a life jacket the cold water will kill you.in the titanic disaster(not the film) they found a lot of the bodys the next day and it was the cold that killed them not drowning

I always have nightmares when I have to travel on a plane, so I'll take the sinking ship.

Failing plane.

With luck and a skilled pilot, there's a chance of someone surviving. It happens more and more these days.

Regardless of a ship captain's skills, there will be a landing of no type. You may survive the demise of the ship, but now you're at the mercy of the elements, and suddenly significantly lower on the food chain.

In addition, I don't think anyone has ever successfully parachuted from a failing ship.
