Hi! Hawaii derives:

77% of its electric power from petroleum
14% from coal
4% from wood and waste (biomass)
4% from geothermal
0.5% from hydropower

according to the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy office. Less than 1/3 of Hawaii's power comes from renewable energy, including solar and wind. Hawaii primarily depends on imported fossil fuels for energy.

I just called my brother who lives in Kaneohe. There has not been any electric power in Hawaii for the past six or seven hours, since the earthquake hit. The electric company shuts down all electric power when a quake hits until they can check out all of the atations and substations.

I would guess a lot of it would be geothermal. These plants would be located all over the islands.
