Any tips on killing the boost guardian in Metroid Prime 2?

Like I go all out on him with cahrged light beam, then when he goes into morph ball, i dodge till he turns into the slime thing and chases you which is where i drop bombs. Then after repeating, I unload on him again when he turns solid, yet I can never get him lower than a quarter health before i die. Any tips that would help?

You can try shooting the crystals with your light beam to keep them lit longer or keep trying. Sorry but all i got.
