Because the WORLD wants someone to be responsible, and they pick the USA.
Random thoughts:
Why can't they pick the UN, isn't that what it was designed to do, police the world? Feed the world, etc.
Lets give the job to China, Russia, India and lets take a year or two off.
Perhaps it's because there are more people here in America than in their home country, and we have to take care of all these "home" countries because of the voters scaring the politicians - rightfully of wrongly this dictates where our foreign policy steers.
Also we are protecting our armed forces from harm, by ensuring no one but Americans tell our forces what to do. This reduces false accusations, and lies against our troops. No one, yet, trusts the UN or other countries to be in charge of outr troops.
If a country makes a product and does not get any American sales - it won't be in business long. Money talks...they say.

You are tarring all Americans with the same brush as their government. The average American is not trying to tell the rest of the world anything. They're just trying to make it through each day like the rest of us.
As far as the Government goes - being a major superpower gives you a lot of clout, and breeds some mighty big egos, but don't dog on Joe Average who probably didn't vote for them anyway.

Unfortunately, as one of the 5 permanent seats on the UN Security Council (along with Great Britain, Russia, France, and China) the US basically does have the right to tell the rest of the world what to do. Our government has been awful lately as far as foreign policy is concerned, but as I once overheard someone say, if you don't like it, "Quit bit ching. Start a revolution."

Americans used to have a great technology(of course based on the non American minds they collect from all over the world) and thus great power. So that used to give them the power(not the right)to interfere anywhere they wanted so as to improve their economy.I feel that things have started to change

My husband says because Russia, China, the United States, and the rest of the U.N. community police the world. Everyone in the U.N. has the right to a vote and a veto.

well now think about this. We are a country that is greedy for money. I think our president has made that VERY clear! We want the power of knowing we can make anyone do what we want them to do...but we are in for it, and its about to smack us in the face, damn president, lol!
Really think about it. What kind of person who runs a country would ever make anyone pay for a natural thing that his god he believes in so much put here ummm like water?
Its so much more expensive to have the heathy foods, than it is to go to McDonalds and poison our kids.
The new slogan for our children!!!
"Come eat french fries little kids, its population control, when your in your 30s, your artaries are going to be so clogged, youll die of a heart attack at 40!"

We don't. The nations that are abiding by United Nations rules and/or guidelines aren't criticized by Americans. The United States and it's allies are simply trying to provide a safer world for all on this earth.

Why?
Because we got the bombs, ok? Two words, Nuclear f*cking weapons. Russia, China, they can have all the democracy they want, they can have a huge democracy cakewalk right in the middle of Tienanmen Square and it wont make a lick of difference because we got the bombs...

Americans are also very generous and caring people and have given to lots of charitable organizations to care for the poor, hungry and wartorn countries. Without the money that comes into these countries these other countries would be high and dry. Be careful about what you say.
