I am not tired and the film wasn't bad, but when I sit down to relax I just seem to switch off! When I give up and go to bed by the time I have cleaned my teeth i am wide awake again! Once I kept rewinding to see the bit I had slept through because I just nodded back off each time - I gave up when I woke up to find I had dropped off whilst it was rewinding... Please help!

I have this problem sometimes. I find that I can get to sleep really easily infront of the TV, but when I go to bed, I cant get to sleep for about an hour. I think its just when you relax your mind like you do when you're watching a film, you can fall asleep more easily than when you're in bed thinking about things.
You could always just try going to bed earlier so that you're not missing out on sleep, but if you're tired then theres not much you can do.
Just try to stop the film if you feel tired, and watch the rest the next day.

I tend to do the same thing. SO if I really want to watch a certain movie, like I've gone to the trouble of actually going to the video store and paying to rent one!......I don't lie down on the couch--I sit down on the floor and lean up against the couch, and I keep my hands busy doing something else, like writing out checks for bills or working on my art work or something. If you have a laptop, you might combine your computer activities with your movie-watching. If your TV is close to the kitchen, you might cook or bake or load/unload the dishwasher etc. while you watch your movie. This will keep your mind and body from getting too relaxed to stay awake.....

what happens is your sub conscious is telling you that it is going to be a boring film so you switch off.same way you go to the cinema with ur parthner to see a film they want and you fall asleep.waking up when brushin you teeth is because its something active like having to do exercises.see if you drive a car long distance you are wide awake because you have to think about what you are doing but if you are in the passenger seat you can fall asleep as you have nothing to do but sit there

I fell asleep during X-Men 3, because it was so boring!

Nah, this happens to me a lot, usually when I am tired. I think "I'll just shut my eyes and listen to the movie", and by the time I open my eyes again, the DVD menu is up

Whatever, just watch the film on a day off or during the weekend, in the afternoon, when you will probably feel less tired.

Your brain is very inactive when watching tv; it pretty much shuts down most of your intensive thinking. If you try to think about the plot, the protagnists in the story, and the surroundings in the film, your chance of staying awake will be greatly increased.

Can u sleep when u get to bed? Do u have trouble sleeping in your bed?
If u do have problems, i wouldve recommended that u get the tv in your room. That way u would atleast nod off in the right place at the right time!

Hope this helps ; )

You just need some good sleep. Maybe you are really tired and you do not know. This is possible. Just go to sleep, and try to see the movie another time.

Sound like your body is telling you to sleep. Listen to what your body says and it will pay you back in return. See the doctor if your concerned. Your proberbly working too hard and not realised it until you have sat down too relax.

My Dad has the same problem. Just try to get involved with the story! Figure out what's going on(If it's a thriller or crime).
