Is the distibutor rotor turning when you crank the engine? It may be the drive gear on the distributor is bad. They are nylon and do tend to get brittle and break!

The timing belt has gone south on your car. This is a normal occurance with these engines. I bet the engine turns or cranks over quicker than normal. Right? Remove the cover that encases the timing belt. If you dont see the overhead cam turning when you crank the engine then you found the problem. Hope you werent driving too fast when this happened. Sometimes the valves hit the piston when the belt snaps. As a reference for maintanence, the timing belt should be replaced at least once every 60,000 miles.
good luck......

Well if you changed and checked all that you say and still no spark, I would check the carb and fuel delivery system. Does the car turn over? Check the belts, check your oil to make sure there is no gas in it. Check the spark plug wells for fluid leaking into them check gaskets.

Check the computer and the crank sensor. One of these not working correctly. If the computer fails , it won't send info to the crank sensor and vice versa. My hubby is a mechanic with over 15 years experience and he told me this info. Good luck!

UNDER YOUR DISTRIBUTER CAP IS A PICKUP COIL ROUND PLASTIC BLACK PULL IT OUT AND REPLACE IT THE COIL IT SELF RARELY GOES BAD BEFORE THAT MAKE SURE YOUR CAR DOESNT SOUND FUNNY WHEN CRANKING OVER THAT WOULD BE YOUR TIMING BELT THAT WILL KEEP YOUR DISTRIBUTER FROM TURNING CAUSING NO SPARK AND FURTHER MORE.
