(y-5)/(8-5)=(x-2)/(3-2)
1(y-5)=3(x-2)
y-5=3x-6
3x-y-1=0

OK - here's yet another way to do this.

First find the slope: (8 - 5) / (3 - 2) = 3

Now choose either point as (x1,y1) in the point/slope formula
y - y1 = m(x - x1). If you pick the first point you'd have
y - 5 = 3(x - 2).

Technically that's a perfectly good answer, but most likely you're supposed to put it in another form. You can distribute the parentheses and add 5 to get y = mx + b (slope/intercept) form:
y - 5 = 3x - 6 ... so y = 3x - 1.

firtst find the slope
y2-y1/x2-x1
8-5/3-2=3/1=3
ok so the slope is 3
next use the slope and one of the cordanite points 2 plug into the equation y=mx=+b and find b
were going 2 use the points (2,5)
y=mx+b
5=3*2+b
5=6+b
-6 -6
_______
-1=b
so the slope(m) is 3 and the y intersept(b) is -1 so the equation would be y=3x+-1
