My answer does not answer your question directly, but questions the validity of an online PhD.
IMHO, a PhD is a lonely experience and to overcome it depends a lot about who you meet. For example, it is not just about your supervisors, but also colleagues, people you meet at conferences, seminars, workshops and other talks. They are the ones who will have a significant impact on your training and ability to learn and innovate. Also, they are people you complain to when you face problems (there will be many) and can emphatise with you.
Also, teaching is a very strong distraction, in addition to other personal/family commitments, to finishing a PhD.
Just my 2 cents worth :)

I knew someone who earned a mail order PhD in religious studies that required passing an open book test on the bible. Sadfy this person used her title of Doctor (PhD) to tout alternative medicine quack remedies when the doctorate was really only meant to allow her to be called "Reverend Doctor." However such docotorates do give false credibility to many con-artists and also give more impressive titles to many televangelists. ☺

No. commonly, the MBA is a lot much less complicated to furnish on line than the Ph.D. So, to date, maximum credible faculties do no longer try this. What you may evaluate is utilising for a Ph.D. in Europe. As I comprehend it, many ecu universities set up their Ph.D. courses as usually learn-based, which, based upon the self-discipline, could be dealt with from a distance. interior the U.S., the 1st couple of years are coursework, which must be performed in place of residing, and then sometimes the proper years could be performed from a distance. yet a Ph.D. isn't commonly coursework based in the two putting, so the assumption of doing it on line quite isn't an argument.

Nova in Florida looks pretty rigorous and is the only online I've seen that looks reputable and not academically watered down as a degree factory.

There are reputable doctoral degrees via online programs, but if you want a real PhD (doctor of philosophy)--as oppossed to an Ed.D (doctor of education), PsyD. (doctor of psychology), etc--you have to be a full-time graduate student, in-person somewhere.
