Interesting question. You seem to have a lot on your plate. Asking strangers (if you're astute enough to filter out the sarcasm and malignant answers) can you give you a wider insight into solving your own problems than to simply inquire from the God-like, ominiscient wisdom of your mother.
Basically, you're going to die. All things die. All things stay dead, and never return. Come to terms with your mortality, and understand that all the things you do in your life are for the purpose of living contentedly and fulfilled in the future as you grow into adulthood and old age. Understand now, that what you put off will only mean, either abandoning your activities, or taking longer in your life to accomplish them. Basically, why put off anything you can do now, if it's important to you, when you may die tomorrow? Do you want to die not having accomplished everything you wish to achieve? Death will come to us all, and it may appear as though all the things you do now are in vain and pointless. I mean it may seem as though there is no point in starting anything when everyone dies, right? The simple fact is, you should recognize that one day you will perish and will remain so. So you should grab life by the balls now, live as much as you can, do as much as you can before your life, and everything else, ends like the flicker of a candle being extinguished in the breeze.
You're life is delicate and vulnerable and nothing lasts forever. So get off your derrier and LIVE, man! If you don't, life will pass you by, and you will have died unfulfilled. That's just depressing.
You should ask your mother how you could better organize your activities and schoolwork so you can accomplish everything in a timely and efficient manner, giving yourself enough free time to goof off.
Good luck with everything, and keep in good spirits!

ok, im in the 8th grade also. Straight A's same as you. The way to get over procrastination is to just get over it! As soon as you get home do your homework. Just sit at the table, crack open those books and get started. Don't allow yourself to do anything except your homework when you get home. If you want, sit down with a snack. If you have a football game, do your homework while you watch 7th grade or the other 8th grade team play. Whenever you have time, open up your books and get to work! If you just have trouble focusing, do half of your math then take a five minute break. Listen to two songs on the radio then go back to work. Tell your mom to punish you everytime you have to get your work done in a hurry on the mornings. Do something!

I think it's great you know what's the problem ? You sound very intelligent so there should be no problem straightening yourself out....before high school. You are right you will be screwed if you don't fix it. If you get behind in high school..it's so hard to catch up. I wondered about your schedule and your priorities...sometimes you have to give up something to get something...like is football more important to you than your studies you will need for college? Do you want to get a football scholarship ? Look at the whole picture of your life...your future...The time you use for sports could be time you spend in the books. It's up to you what you decide. Some students can handle a full plate and others find it too frustrating....you are the one who knows the answer....best of luck and I'm happy for you that you are a straight A student...Mama Jazzy Geri

Are you sure you are procrastinating and not using time management?
You are getting all of your stuff done on time right?
As long as you are meeting youir obligations, allow yourself the flexibility to do it when you want and when it doesn't interfere with other things. Good study habits are important, but the point of good study habits is getting it done. You are doing that. Don't be so hard on yourself.
If you really want help, go here for some time-management skill-building geared toward the exact problem you anticipate.

Good for you for realizing the problem.
I can see from reading your question that you procrastinated a great deal when it came to your reading and writing skills.Your spelling is ATROCIOUS!
Just do what you know you're suppossed to do,when you're suppossed to do it,and your slack time will double! When you take care of things right away you'll notice that you don't have to spend quite as much time on them.Procrastinators are the busiest people in the world because they spend their time inefficiently!

If you truly want to succeed, you will do it. I mad it through college and grad school and I am a HUGE procrastinator! But I knew what I had to do. Make a list and cross each item off as it is completed (sounds stupid, but psychologically it works). Also, make little deals with yourself. Like, after I finish this paper, I will watch a movie. Little things like that help.

Tell your mind to quit telling you that you procrastnate, go into your mind and pull those weeds of negative thought and throw them away.replace them with positive thoughts,I never hesitate,i always do my work NOW. DON'T look back. READ A LITTLE BOOK AS A MAN THINKETH BY JAMES ALLEN.THE ONLY TIME WE ARE ALIVE IS "NOW" STAY FOCUSED ON NOW,DO EVERY THING POSSIABLE NOW.
