Easy. Transvestite simply means "cross-dresser."
Transsexual means the person went through the sex-change operation.

If by Transsexualism, you means transgender, that is a person who has had a sex change. A transvestite feels more comfortable in clothing of the opposite sex, but does not get surgery.

A transvestite gets sexual enjoyment from dressing up as the opposite gender. It has nothing to do with their sexual orientation - they may be gay, bi, or straight.

A transexual (also called transgendered) is someone who wants to be the opposite gender. They often feel they were born into the wrong body. Again, it has nothing to do with their sexual orientation. Transexuals may be pre- or post-op, meaning whether or not they have had gender reassignment surgery.
