with the little keypad and tape recorder and a million leads, and you used to have to wait ages for the games to load and while they did they made that noise that i cant describe on here (like the noise you hear on the phone when you accidently dial a fax number) but if you so muched as looked at one of the leads it crashed and you had to start all over again. I used to play chuckie egg, attick attack and dizzy. Thought it was great.

Yes i had one, swapped a BBC Computer for it as there were so many more games for the Spectrum.
Though i loved the machine the games load time was crazy and if you got a game which required two tapes you were pretty sure one would fail LOL and you'd have to start all over again, worth the wait though :-)

Yes, it was fab!( (at the time). I was jealous because my brother had a spectrum and I had the forerunner, the zx81, which only had 16k of memory, not 48, (wow!) and had to be plugged into a black and white tv! I loved playing attick attack - there are zx spectum simulation games out there on the web now you know!

Afraid I missed out on the Spectrum.

I moved from the ZX81 straight to the QL. Now that was a great computer. It was way ahead of its time.

One of my big bugbears with windows is that when it orders filenames it puts file11 in front of file9. The QL could sort so that these were in the correct order.

I think Clive Sinclair should have more recognition for the genius that he is.

Yeah we used to play ground attack, it was brill.

Incidentally there is - famously- an episode of "star trek" ( original series) where you can hear a spectrum loading in the background!!

I got more enjoyment out of the spectrum than I probably get out of this bloated Microsoft XP rubbish.

Yeah, well my Amstrad CPC 6128 totally pwns that... check it out... more colours on screen, more memory, and a DISK DRIVE!

I also had approximately 237 copies of Dizzy due to it being on nearly every Quattro compilation tape, and a magazine cover tape as well.

Of course, taped games didn't stay taped for long thanks to Multiface II. Transferred the lot to disk.

I used to know ZX Spectrum. He still owes me money to this day. If he offers you to a game of Poker, DO NOT ACCEPT. He'll take your money, wife and virginity.

Get out of my house.

Still have two of them and about three hundred games. Still think Manic Miner was the best.
