One betta is on one side and one is on the other. They just got in and they are flaring a lot! Is this ok? The divider is blue but kind of see through. They can't get to each other. Is this ok or should I have two tanks?

I called two Aquarium pet stores and both said that they should be fine.

I would go with two tanks. They could become stressed and die from flayering there gills all day and using all there energy.
They are very pretty and interesting fish. I have had several in comunity aquariums over the years. In a big tank they are very active and come right to the top when it's time to get fed.
Just because they can servive in thouse little bowls does not mean they like it in there. Put one in a larg tank and you well be amazed.

I'm assuming there both male bettas if there flaring at each other, so If I were you I'd seperate them. Bettas can jump, especially when theres something on the otherside that they want. Also the flaring up is natural they'd flare up if you put a mirrior up to the tank. But, I would strongly recommend putting one in a different tank, if you don't you could have two less fish..
Good Luck

I consider Catx, the a million gallon tank is in simple terms too small for even one betta not to point 2, i could bypass with a larger tank and to stop them flaring at one yet another you need to place a plant against the divider so they are able to't see one yet another as of course yet another ingredient I even have seen is a collection of java moss squeezed between 2 divders to create a wall. :)

that is not good at all. bettas are essentially fighting fish and are very territorial. if you put 2 in a big pond they will fight to the death. even thug the tank is seperated there can still be issues. because they can see each other closely they will always try to fight even if they cant which cant be to good for their health. the best thing would be 2 get 2 tank and seperate them give the tanks a decent distance from each other thay way they wont crowd each oth . do this as soon as possible

you can leave them in the tank with the dividers as long as they stay on both side of the line. are you saying one a female and one a male or do you have two males.
well if they are males then yes they need to stay apart.
what size of tank is it 10 gal will work ok with a dividers between them.

Don't worry. They don't like eachother, so they are trying to make themselves look bigger than the other. Perfectly normal. I have two betta fish in a divider, and they do that a lot.

two tanks is better(and put something between the 2 so they cannot see each other)
bettas do that..and it can stress one or both out and kill them

Yeah, i think it would be better to get two tanks, seeing each other this much is probably causing stress to the fish.

i would keep them out of site or something bad would happen because they would try to kill each other but the cant so the would hit the wall or something maybe knock themselves out so i would just put them in 2 different tanks far away from eachother
