I want to start a not-for-profit foundation. The only thing is i have yet to figure out what kind of corporation i am going to create. Keep in mind that I am in Miami, where at times it seems like the majority speaks more spanish than english. I was leaning more towards education. The services could range from tutoring english as a second language or helping students from another country integrate into american culture. I am asking for any new ideas or for elaboration on my two current themes. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Most people who start a not-for profit do so because of a greater good, and a community need they want to stand up an fill. To quote the character Big Weld, from the movie Robots, "See a need, fill a need".

To answer your question, besides knowing your location, one would have to know your background (English Literature, Sociology, etc).

I don't mean to be rude, but it doesn't sound like you want to help anyone, it sounds like you want to run a company - one funded by philanthropist money. In order to get goverment, philanthropist, or other funds, you have to have a "burning platform". That is to day, a significant need in your community that requires immediate attention and has serious consequences if not looked after.

I suggest you start with the local United Way. Ask them what community issue they have been unable to fund or solve, but definitely needs addressing.

You can also Google on "Outreach" and "Miami". Those programs may give you a good idea on what others are doing in the community.

If you speak both languages teaching English to Spanish speaking people is a good thing. You can also teach Spanish to English speaking people.
