I just bought this GeForce 6600 at a Compusa that was going out of bisness so I got it for half price. But I would like to know if I wasted my money replacing it over a Radeon 9600?

It's better than the Radeon 9600, especially so, if it's a 6600GT.

that depends on quite a few things:
how much video RAM it has and if its shared with the computers main RAM
The Clock speed of the processor (on the video card)
VGA or DVI Ports (or just DVI)
and a few other things
and its Maximum resoluiton. I know mine is 1024x768
