Thanks for the wikipedia paste... I'm just more interested in knowing exactly *how* the oil is derived/obtained from the bird, than its chemical structure.

no, but it does come from a layer of fat on the back of emus

Emu oil is an oil made from the Emu. Emu oil is approximately 70% unsaturated fatty acids. The largest component is oleic acid – a mono-unsaturated fatty acid. Emu oil also contains about 20% linoleic (Omega 6) acid and 1-2% linolenic (Omega 3) acid. There is some evidence to suggest that the oil may have medicinal benefit.[1]
Emu oil is a complete neutral lipid, since emu oil lacks phospholipids.

haha that's what i was thinking, i don't think so, but i do know that it's very good for healing piercings well as well as other cuts, abrations etc, i kills about 90 % of germs and bacteria as well as reduces scars
