I'm going to say yes for several reasons.
1) For his personal health. It's been documented that Angle is suffering from several injuries but as he still wants to wrestle, he would be working a much lighter schedule in TNA, while retaining his star power.
2) Competiton. The WWE needs some decent competition like they had in WCW 10 years ago, and TNA has the product to do that. And with Kurt Angle now on their roster, more people are more likely to tune in. This will also mean more quality matches from both TNA and WWE as they compete for viewers. But that won't happen for awhile.
3) Something fresh. For all of 2006, even when Angle won the World Heavyweight Title, he had been a bit stale on WWE TV. Since he had been beaten by John Cena, his career went into a downward spiral and he ended up in ECW where he appeared on all of 3 shows. He was being underused and had rubbish storylines, and he had every reason to go find something better.

yes. Angle was getting pushed into the WWE shuffle. He hasn't been in the running for the championship for a while now and he got sent over to ECW which is more entertainment than wrestling. The best he could do in ECW is beat the Big Show and fight the Big Show or The Sandman for the next 6- 12 months. In TNA he was a chance to be in the Main Event and Storyline for quite some time.

As you'll read in PWI, he was addicted to pain killers; that's why the WWE let him go. With less of a demanding schedule, he should do well and keep his wrestling skills sharp--much like Jeff Hardy did before returning to the WWE.
