take your time. Paint in lon strokes from the cuticle to the tip of the nail. As for not getting it on your skin you can either be really really careful or you can remove polish that you do get on the skin using a q-tip dipped in nail polish remover

Go straight down a little will get on your skin just peel it off it will come to you try going to the shop to keep from going out side looking a mess and in the mean time practice on your feet.

There are some new press-on nail polish tabs you can buy they go on and last for about a week. I tihnk revlon makes them, but the add was in a magazine like cosmo or allure

you need to get a nailpolish that goes on smooth. go fowards and make sure youre using a wide brush. go over your nails after with a topcoat and it gets rid of the lines. try estee lauder nailpolish. theyre tiny but really good quality

paint a line in the middle, then paint the sides, then the middle again. repeat for second coat
