this actually costs farms money , as it is not sold by weight, wholesale, but carcass size.
after prolonged periods of rain, the carcass can shrink by 10%, and profit margins are only 20%, so its a serious problem.
if drying the animal, prior to slaughter, is done too quickly, the carcass can shrink further, so you will often see labels on sheeps backs, saying do not tumble dry. instead they are washed in warm water, and layed flat.
Sometimes these labells are still on the fleece, when it reaches the shops, as a rug.

no, sheep do not shrink in the rain. It would be like saying you shrink in the shower. It's stupid. But you may think they shrink bacause the water is condensing their wool until they get dry.

No because they are waterproof but are you not a bit in need of some yourself because you sound as if you need some and only saying this in a good way whatever your state of health you have to keep the water levels up
