it is not possible, and there is a VERY good reason why you cannot trade from red, blue, yellow, gold, silver, or crystal into the newer games, ruby, sapphire, emerald, fire, leaf, colloseum, XD.
the reason you cannot trade is because of how easy it is to duplicate pokemon and items in the older games, and also because of the messed up EV layouts in the older games.
if you WERE allowed to trade, you would bring the messed up glitches from the past into newer games

Emerald
Ruby
Saphire
Leaf Green

No sorry it is not possible gold is on Game Boy and emerald is on GBA the nintendo companies apologized for this a long time ago

im pretty sure you can, but from emerald to gold you can only trade pokemon that exist in gold with no new features or techniques.

then again, rumors say that the creators of pokemon don't allow compativity between the two because they think pokemon RBY and GSC are obslete to them. So they problay burn away the two generations completly and foucs on the advance generation for marketing benefits.
I hope that's not true...
