So resorting to crime is justified? Everybody should walk when they write bad checks? Selling drugs is okay if you only use the money to feed your kids?

Get real. There are ways to get help without resorting to crime. For starters, get a job and pay your bills. Kids need to be fed, clothed and sheltered; but they do not need to have video games, cel phones, or television (they WANT them and that is the difference).

Yes there is a vicious circle of poverty, but letting people avoid jail is not the way to break the cycle. Educating, instilling pride, and teaching morality (do the crime-do the time) are.

I say a crime is a crime. The justoce system can really suck for those just trying to make ends meet. But you gotta realise that when they commited these offenses, someone innocent had to pay for it. Selling drugs is a roundabout process, welfare fraud screws us taxpayers by making us have to make up for them screwing the system and don't write checks if you don't have the money, these things only dig people deeper. And why are you so sympathetic for women, men are in prison for the same petty things just to survive. I've worked with women before when I worked at BK when I was younger that were at a work release camp for good behavior in prison and I'll tell you, most of them have felt the same way that I do. Just because they have been treated badly doesn't mean they get special rules. There are many people out there that have had worse lives that are now very successful because they worked hard and tried doing the right things.

The same as my opinion about men in the prison system for petty crimes. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Laws are established for the law breaker, if you do not steal, then laws about check fraud, auto theft and shop lifting do not pertain to you. Do they? On the other hand, I live in a low crime area. With a lack of what I'll call "real crime" cops meet quota after quota on petty DUI charges and speeding tickets, making "Barney Fifes" out of 98% of law enforcement officers in my area. When 30 miles away is the "murder capital of the world." The police in this area have no time for these "petty crimes." A DUI will result in a ride home or your keys confiscated till the next day 99.9% of the time. The outcome of a speeding violation will result ,in the speeder, getting where he's going faster; with possible exception of 100mph in a 35mph zone. This information I received from an officer. They just do not have the time for these "petty crimes."

When my female cousin was in prison for writing bad checks, that was the thing that helped her get cleaned up from drugs. Jail didn't do it. Prostitution didn't do it. Numerous rehabs and AA and NA didn't do it. Getting her kids taken from her didn't do it. It took going to prison and doing hard time to help her focus on the fact that she had a problem.. and while there, doing hard time, she worked hard to avoid drugs and fights and also took college correspondence courses.

She is out now, clean, gainfully employed, and reunited with her children.

Therefore, my opinion in a nutshell: Do the crime, do the time... man or woman.... if you do the time for a "petty" crime, then make the most of it.

I somewhat do not have any subject with reformatory for thieves or those who deface sources. rather, for a thief, i might want to be prepared to attempt an outstanding equivalent to three situations the retail fee of the object stolen paid to the shop, besides as an outstanding to the state. For defacing sources, an outstanding of three situations the fix expenditures paid to the owner (even even if it is public), besides as an outstanding to the state. If there is chance of rigidity in the robbery, and so on., certainly penitentiary time. "Rehabilitation" is amazingly own duty. The state can furnish opportunities, yet can't rigidity a thief to end stealing, except by technique of punishment or chance of punishment.

Are you suffering from delusions?
Most women commit these crimes to purchase drugs, not to support their families, and they get caught for maybe one or two of the hundreds of crimes they commit.

Wake up.

Saying that a woman has to resort to criminal acts to support their families is a slap in the face to the 99% of woman that never resort to such crimes.

Everyone has choices to make in life. Just because you are trying to survive doesn't put you above the law.
Those laws are for everyone. Why should you make excuses for breaking laws. No gender should get any preferential treatment when it comes to laws.

Criminals are criminals. They should be locked up. The sell drugs...and people die. they pass bad checks...and consumer prices go up. they commit fraud...and we suffer through taxes. You are taking a shortsighted and simplistic viewpoint. When does their crimes become bad enough for you? When they kill your children? When they shoot you during a stickup?

Ridiculous waste of taxpayer money. What does it cost to incarcerate? 15K a year? Then they get out with no job and no chance of getting one with a prison record. Another 10K a year in public assistance or they reoffend for lack of work and go back for 15K a year.

Makes perfect sense. We wouldn't want to get them treatment or job training on probation would we?

Waste, waste of time, money and government energy. Ugh.
