you guys have to read the whole question - he said reasons that haven't already be defended in that article. Therefore, those of you who reasoned "brain damage" would know better if you read the article.

I believe the only reason is because there are all those people who have believed the 'drugs are bad' mentality all their lives. This was a mentality that was passed down from generation to generation.

And unfortunately, being that those people still believe this theory, they're passing it down to the next generation - and of that generation, some may believe it, some may not. Those that don't will most likely not run for any government position - if for no other reason but for fear of drug testing which will ruin their career.

Alcohol is much more of a deadly drug - fully legalized though, of course; everyone needs a vice.

I have read oodles of literature about this and done a reasonable amount of field research, the only thing that counts is how it affects the individual, sure there are loads of people who seemingly smoke from dusk till dawn and hold down jobs and are successful, but other people have a different reaction.

Some people, who are addictive by nature, can't put it down, others ( a significant proportion ) encounter temporary madness while some are affected when it comes to getting up in the morning.

All these things can lead to loss of professional and personal life, and something which is potentially harm full to so many people couldn't possibly be recommended by the government.

Judging by your picture, I'm not going to get 10 points with this, but these are my observations.

Well this is easy to answer, the reason is because the government can not collect tax on this substance "yet" so it is kept illegal until it too can make its money out of it. Its a soothing drug , safer than Tobacco and it creates peace not war, give some to the world leaders, I say!!!

because it turns people into mumbling slavering boring repetitive idiots.

You may not think so NOW but as you get older you will learn to appreciate the wisdom of this.

It makes people too peaceful, which is the REAL reason. It got banned during world war one in the UK because it made people too peaceful.

Just think of the decisions and laws that would be passed in congress? How would you like a president that stayed stoned all of the time trying to run the country?

Because it can cause an explosion in drug addition. All hard core users have been weaned on pot. For this reason, marijuana is called the gateway drug.
