That depends on what you mean by "default". If you had him served divorce papers and he didn't "answer" within the alloted time stated in the papers then a default order is already in effect. I suggest you talk with your lawyer if you have an questions.

By default do you mean he's never signed the papers? If this is the case has he been served at least twice? Normally it takes a while 60-90 days then 30 to finalize it. Also depends on which state you live in.

There is no set time limit. He will sign it when he is good and ready. He could send it back and ask for clarification on certain points, or he may sign it right away.
Mine has taken 3 months so far. It was sent back to the judge last week. I hope to hear from my lawyer soon to find out if I am finally divorced or not.

... it just depends on the situation, and if either of you are fighting the divorce. If you have already agreed on everything, and settling out of court, then just a few weeks for the judge to get it on his desk and sign it. However, if it involves custody, and lots of assets, then it could be a year or longer. I lived in Illinois in a small town, and it took us awhile because my x decided to screw the judge's daughter. Therefore, he couldn't hear the case, You know... conflict of interest. However, I waited and received what I wanted. A divorce!!!!!

I had the judge's signature in 60 days. I told my attorney I heard he was the best in helping people obtain a divorce and getting a judge to sign those papers quickly. Don't disappoint me, word of mouth is the best advertisement if you get my drift.

It all depends on where you are located. In Canada it takes 60 days after you have served the respondent with the paperwork. and then the judge can sign the divorce decree and then 30 days after that your divorce becomes final.
Good Luck
