Good for you!
Absolutely continue on regardless. Typing is a skill that takes a long time to develop. To be honest, now that you've learnt the basics its all about practicing. Its like learning to play the guitar or the piano, you can keep learning new skills, but without practicing you will never improve.
My parents (both in their late sixties) have just started to use computers and the internet too...and I've seen a vast improvement with their skills over the last year as they tend to practice every single day by writing myself and other family members emails etc.
I wish you the best of luck with it!

Press on regardless, learning to type correctly is not as easy as most people think. Most of the typists in the old fashioned typing pool went to commercial college for about 2 years. During these 2 years, they would take typing lessons for about 2 hours every day.

At 11 WPM you are probably typing faster than what you can write in cursive, so I say you are already ahead. Plus you will pick up a little speed with practice, so I would not sweat it too much.
Just make sure that you don't hurt your hands. People half your age have ruined their wrists due to improper position while typing. I am 35, never took a typing class in my life and I type around 35 WPM simply by muscle memory, but my hands hurt when I type too fast. Because of the muscle memory it is too hard for me to go back to take a typing class.

Good on You! Press on regardless. The more you do the better at it you will become. Im a bit younger than you and can only do about 30 words per minute. Its not speed that counts its the fun of doing something new. Have a lovely day and enjoy!

Stick with it, anything which uses the brain is a good thing. It's better than vegetating in front of the telly!
Fair play to you, and I wish you all the best. Press on with it BUT the internet is a big place so once you can type a bit better your interest will probably develop in other ways.
Thats is beautiful typing by the way.

Never give up. Never give up! NEVER GIVE UP!!
Winston Chuchill to an Oxford graduating class.
I commend you on pursuing something new to learn. Keep practicing and it will eventually come. Three days is just getting started my friend. You can do it, just don't give up. The Mavis Beacon software and a LOT of practice is how I learned to type.

Keep going! It can only get better if you don't give up. Try playing a game online that has to do with typing. Try Shark Typer on Yahoo Games. I used that to help me.

It's entirely up to you. My dad went to evening classes to learn about computers, most towns have an adult education centre, you could find out about typing classes there if you want. it's also a great way to meet new people.
