I work in a diner/restaurant and this older server has always called me betlittling names such as "dumbass", "dumbshit", "stupid", etc etc. I told the manager like a month ago, he talked to her, and she just started doing it again yesterday. I was working in the back alone and she comes back for a second to get something and just to be civil since we work together and to try to make it not awkward, I saw "hey how're you doing??" She ignores me so I say it again. She looks back behind her to me, gives me a strange look and says "WHY are you talking to me?" Then I hear her laughing to another server and pointing to me and says "he's soo stupid." This woman is like 55 and hardly anyone likes her. This one guy Juan told the manager he doesnt want any shifts with her.
Oh and if someone doesnt seat her whenever she wants she gets pissed. This couple came in and them nor Donna (the 55yo server) made any contact whatsoever and the couple didn't request Donna's section either. So I sit them

in the next section (Joey's) and as they are about to sit down Donna comes up and apparently knows them. She's like "Did you tell him you wanted my section?" They shake their heads 'no'. And she says "Oh he's playing games tonight..." with a serious tone. I told this other cashier girl and she's like that's not right to do right in front of the customers.

Thanks frisker. I went to Donna and said if you keep up the rude comments I'll go to Larry (the main manager) again. She said, all sarcastically like she doesnt care and doesnt think he'll care, "Oh please to go to Larry...please."

Lmao! Thanks fishtown, I wish you did live near me-- that'd be hilarious! Actually I was just telling this girl Lisa I might go in there on one of my off-days with my girlfriend and request Donna's section. Haha, I'll only be a customer so lets see how she treats me. I'll defintely look into going to Human Resources too

Funny you say, fishtown, that if you were a patron at my restaurant and Donna was your server, you'd never come back. B/c there are a lot of guests who come in and tell me and the other employees that they will take ANYONE, BUT Donna.

And one of my friends said he went into my work before I even worked there and said his server looked like a clown with wayyy too much makeup on and he said he and his friends ran out of that place before they even ordered b/c that server scared them. It was soo Donna! She's the only one who wears (too much) makeup.

I agree with frisker. Report her again and give it a week. If nothing has changed, contact Human Resources at your corporate office and report her.

You're a better man than I am. Seems like you've done all things proper according what should be done. I'd probably be a little less mature, confronting her directly, speaking my mind and then using my powers of intimidation to just basically annoy the **** out of her. I work as a cook in a local busy restaurant and I think you server types probably have a have a hard enough time just dealing with difficult customers and such. At times I can be a little temperamental when under stress and I've spoken harshly to the the waitresses. They, in turn, will remind me that I'm being a piece of **** and that I'm wrong for speaking to them that way. I apologize and life goes on. I'm guessing that probably wouldn't work on old girl, huh? She'd probably just get defensive and act like an even bigger asshole. That's too bad. Good luck with that.

Hey Sports Guy. I wish I lived near your restaurant. I'd come in, request Donna's section, and then turn into the customer from hell. We could start things off with: "Pardon me, ma'am, are you molting? There's hair in my soup." followed by: "Where the hell are my fries, dumbass?" And for good measure: "Get the thumb out of your butt and bring me another iced tea, stupid!".

You have my condolences, man. Having to endure the behavior of crappy co-workers can really ruin your day and make you not want to come to work in the first place. Managers should realize that employees like Donna with nasty temperaments have a negative effect on the entire establishment. She should be fired and replaced with someone with a better disposition. If I were a patron at your restraurant and saw a waiter or waitress behaving like that, I'd never come back.

I would (1) look for another job while continuing to work there and (2) when I got an offer, I would put in a written resignation to the manager, cc corporate (if there is one -- not every business has an HR dept., let alone a corporate HQ). The resignation would specifically state I was leaving because of Donna's abuse and cite one or two examples. To make this work, you have to be willing to leave, though. No bluffing.

I would report your co-worker again, if nothing is done about it, go to your managers manager. call corporate and tell them that you are an employee and that another employee is making it hard for you to do your job, and that you've told your manager and nothing has been done.

You can't continue to work under these conditions, it WILL take a toll on your health because of the stress level. If she is acting this way to you, how do you know she hasn't acted this way to others and they have quit. If she is acting this way towards you, and customers see it, that is a bad thing. She obviously has NO interaction skills, and she should be fired!

I hope your situation gets better. If you don't report her, it will only get worse, and she will continue to do it and she will most likely get worse about it, becoming more rude and more mean.

I would definatly report the incidents. If you can get Juan to report them as well. This is a type of discrimination, may be racial, sexual, I don't know (more info). However it is still against the law. Start at the manager, and mover your way up to the Equal Opportunity Board. If they find you have a legitimate case they will take over for you and you WILL NOT loose your job. She might, but you wont.

Prett easy one. One voice won't do it only. Grab Juan and see if you can get some other servers together and ALL go to the manager at the same time with your concerns.

You should definately do something about this lady. YYou shoiuld go to your manager again, and if it doesnt stop go to his boss. This is very unproffesional and inappropriate behavoir for the workplace. If you do not do something to end this. this person is going to believe they can get away with anything and the behavoir could possibly worsen.

Does she have something to drink at work? If she does and she leaves it alone you should take a piss in it. That would teach her.
