Don't we tell our kids NOT to take candy from strangers only to dress them up and LET them beg for it. Does that make sense?

Good because it's fun and gets them excited. and you they can be whatever they want to be for one night. the only way it would be bad is if they got some bad candy. I never understood why some parents wouldnt let there children go out trick or treating.

I say let them go. It's been going on since after the irish came to america. As for the bad candy. You go to houses of the people you know and check the candy. Some hospitals will scan the candy for you. As for those who wont let ther children go on the fact that they think it's a devil holiday. You neeed to read up on your facts. It's a religious holiday for those who are wiccian/ pagan to rember those they have lost. If you take away Halloween because of the money making factor then you have to get rid of all the other Holidays as well. That,s my 2 cents.

Only take them to houses that parents are comfortable with or relatives. Halloween is more than just candy from strangers, and parents should explain this to their children.

Furthermore, it's good for children to play dress up; it's good for them developmentally.

I always thought the same thing it goes against everything you try to teach them..and my brother in laws niece got poisoned one Halloween and had to get her stomach pumped from trick or treat candy.. I say take them to the store and let them pick out several bags of candy or go to the rich neighborhoods in my area those people give money instead of candy.

I think Halloween is fun I love the fact that I get to dress my children up plus I get to dress up too. It's good for there imaginations they can be anything they want to be for a night and there is nothing wrong with that.

Parents say a lot of contradictory things as we raise our children.

Not too many things are black and white....there's a lot of grey areas.

We tell them not to speak to strangers but when someone says hi to them...we tell them to say hi back.

Halloween can be a fun time for kids with some guidance and some common sense....parents can have fun too and we all need some fun in our lives.

When you think about it yeah, it doesn't make any sense, but think about it for a little bit. I say Halloween is good for kids. It helps cultivate their minds and imagination and also it's fun. You can be anything you want for one night and that's an idea that should be good for anyone.

Trick or treating is not "taking candy from strangers."

Taking candy from strangers is when an unknown adult approaches you without your parents permission-or when your parents are not present-and engages you in conversation and gives you candy or other forms of bribery, for no apparent reason.

tell your kids to stay home on Halloween. there has just been way too many problems going on Halloween night. not to mention the multi-billion dollar costume industry, you might as well flush your money down the f****** toilet.
