Find the three different ordered pairs that are solutions of the equation. 15.) y=1/4(3x-1)

Rewrite the equation in function form. 21.) -6x-9y=0

Use a table of values to graph the equation. 30.) y= -5/2x+3/2

You are 357.5 miles from home and your are driving toward home at a constant rate of 55 miles per hour. The distance,d (in miles), away from home after t hours is given by d=357.5 - 55t
31.) Stetch the graph of the equation from t=0 to t=7
32.) How far from home after 3 1/2 hours?
33.) After how many hours do you arrive at home?

#21 is x= -1.5y

I have been tutoring math for years and am always anxious to help anybody here on Y!answers to understand their assignment problems or work.

However, here it looks like you have just tossed out all the problems without sufficient thinking.

Problem 31 is "sketch the graph" and you surely don't expect a sketch from anyone in this kind of medium.

question #15 doesn't make sense the way you wrote it because there are more than 3 orderd pairs that sasify that equation.

pick any "x" and you can get the "y" that goes with it to make an ordered pair
x=0, then y=1/4(0*3-1)=-1
x=1, then y=1/4(1*3-1)=2/4=1/2

there exist an infinite number of ordered pairs that are solutions to the equation

#21 is just asking you to solve for "y" and then replace the "y" with "f(x)" so you will have function format

you solve for y by adding 6x to both sides of the equation, and then dividing by -9 (try it, you will see how it goes)

#32 you just need to substitute 3.5 hours in for "t" in the equation and calculate "d" because "d" is the distance from home

#33 you need to substitute the value of "0" (zero) in for "d" because when you are home you are zero miles away from home, and then solve for the "t" to get hours it took to get there

you can solve for "t" by subtracting 357.5 from each side and then dividing both sides by -55

you can do this

think about it

good luck

I'll help you get started... but I can't do ALL your homework for you.

15.) y=1/4(3x-1)

Try putting in different values for x and see what kind of a result you get for y.

For example: if x=0 then y=¼(3*0-1)
y=¼(0-1)
y=-¼

if x=1, then y=¼(3*1-1)
y=¼(3-1)
y=¼(2)
y=½

There ya go boss! Good luck with the rest.

Btw: that Engineered dude that answered your question for #15 is wrong. If x=0, then y= -1/4 as I stated.... Yikes, I'm glad he didn't tutor me.
