Is the 42,000 in place of interest? How long before the payment has to be returned? If its a long term loan.... its not really that bad. Take a look at mortgages... borrow 100,000 and over the course of years, you pay back twice that or more. Depends on the terms.

Depends what you're doing with the 25k. If you have an investment plan such that you're getting back say, 70k at the time you have to repay the 42k, then it's a +EV proposition.
