It's like they say, if you quetion yourself about something moral the first thing that come to your mind is usually right. The problem is we start rationalizing.

I think with so many factors in life you have to rationalize or weigh the options; but, you still have to go with what your spirit feels is right rather than what is convienent.

Well, I think you have answered your own question.

Yes we have an intellect. And yes, because we live in such a materialistic world, our minds tend to rationalise away our intuitive, spiritual, or even mystical impressions.

We are trained in school to only value rational scientific type thinking so this is hardly surprising -- although it certainly is regrettable and very narrow minded. (I suspect it it also a major reason why depression is now our biggest mental health problem by far.)

If you are not sure about a judgement, meditate; give yourself the time you need to clarify the best answer.

It is well documented that people sometimes pick up strangers and give them rides and die as a result of it.

That is very sad. A good deed that ends up ending you.
