Not perfect, but good would help. Many firefighters wear glasses or contacts. I don't think vision is considered a handicap that would prevent you from working as a firefighter...unless you were legally blind.

I have been a volunteer firefighter (see my badge<-------) for 9 years and wear glasses. Half the time in a real working structure fire, you cant see anything anyway freom all the thick smoke. Thank God for thermal imaging cameras...

Yes you need it...you must be 100 procenta healthy and you must have a perfect eye sight.
