Windows ME is unsupported these days, so note that you won't get any security updates even if they're needed.
More RAM may well do you good, as would removing everything you don't use (especially stuff that thinks you want it to load on boot).
I'd recommend http://crucial.com to buy your RAM from.

Yes RAM will help a bit but sorry, but dial-up will kick you off (it depends on your line and location and ISP but this could happen frequently). Also, upgrade to Windows XP RIGHT NOW. Or, do the free world a favour and download, and use, the best operating system on the net: http://www.ubutnu.com
Both OSes will make your computer more stable.

has some of the best price computer gear from yester-year. You'll prolly need pc-100 stick of ram if its that old of a computer. Check and make sure first though.

Windows ME is inherently screwed up. Microsoft abandoned Windows ME as quickly as they could before they implemented windows XP because of the troubles you are having right now: instability, poor performance, etc.
A Windows XP home edition upgrade would probably not be a bad idea. I think you get get it for around $90.
Also, any additional RAM will help. The more the marrier. I bought my computer with 256 and put 1 gig in it.

I would not waste any money on that pc. If its an older pc, the ram will not be that cheap (if brand new). You can get a new dell or hp for $300 that is most likely 100x better then that pc.
But to answer your question, your pc WILL run faster and better with more ram. I would suggest newegg. If they dont have it, go to www.pricewatch.com and do a search for the best price.

For older kit try looking for computer fairs in your area (usually held on a Sunday). Ram was priced at £2 for 64MB the last one I went to .
Realistically, a new PC is your best option :(

yes. you should get at the minum of 512 MB RAM these days (but when Windows Vista comes out i highly suggest 1 GB RAM) What you could do is if your processor is fast enough and you get yourself a memory upgrade you can run Windows XP.

Use this free PC audit from Belarc (it`s very good) It will give a complete audit of your PC.
The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, missing Microsoft hotfixes, anti-virus status, CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks, and displays the results in your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on your PC and is not sent to any web server.
You cansave the results to your HD or print it.

yes, more ram will definitely help, but don't go overboard with this. more then 512MB on a win me machine would just be a waste of money.
like poster Stephen said ask your friends, its everywhere.
Also maybe you need to clean up the system, often there is just to many programs running at once. Look down by the clock if there is allot of icons there for programs you are not using at this very moment get rid of that icon, those programs gobble up your memory and CPU, right click on each one of them and look for options or settings and disable it if you don't need it.

Go buy a new PC! If you can't afford to buy a new PC, go to your local computer shop and have it fixed for you. You don't seem to know enough about computers to know that 128MB of RAM isn't anything... at all, leave computer work to professionals.
