I've already read some of your answers, and I think it is OK that you call a tennis racquet a bat. I mean I'm into tennis, so every sport game I go to..I call it a match!
But what you are probably looking for is a beginner racket. Those start at about $20. If you are staring tennis... good luck!

And when you are shopping, make sure you call it a racquet....people may get confused : )

If you're talking about a tennis racket, and not racket ball, then you should just start off with a decent one if you're new to the sport. You can find good ones to start with in the $20-70 area. Some come prestrung and others you have to take to a tennis club to get the strings put on, if you're just beginning then get one with the strings already. If you find out you enjoy playing, there's more expensive rackets ($100-300) that are much lighter and made stronger if you feel you want to upgrade. Luckily when I first started learning, my aunt's boyfriend GAVE me a racket (I saw it in the store unstrung for $279) so I've never bought another one, but someone at the sports store should be able to help you out too. Oh, call it a tennis racket when you shop for one.. tennis bat might confuse people lol

You go down to the store and keep trying the "Bats"on until you find one that feels good and you can grip well. Good luck in finding a Tennis Bat by the way. Oh you shoudl use that term at the sproting good store. I think they will get a good kick out of it and make their day. :)

You don't play tennis with a "bat" or with a "club".

By "Bat" do you mean "stick" or "frame" . Just keep trying different Bats until you find one you like.
