You enumerated several points that merit the attention of die hard conservatives that like to place the blame of 9/11 squarely on the shoulder of Clinton. Its unfortunate that most of them are so mired in the blame game, that they would rather not acknowledge the obvious.
Conservatives always like to point out about the times that we had the opportunity to assassinate Osama Bin Laden, and yet Clinton did not seize the opportunity. Most honest liberals are willing to concede to Clinton’s culpability on this matter. However, what is seldom emphasized is Bush’s own incompetence in allowing the 9/11 tragedy to transpire, in spite of mounting evidence gathered by our intelligence sectors; sectors that benefited from the Clinton administration’s policies. In fact what many conservatives fail to cite, is that much of the reason why we know so much about the training camps, Al Qaeda hierarchy, and the Pakistani and Saudi links to terror cells is the direct result of intelligence that was amassed during Clinton’s watch.
A lot can be done in 9 months. You can build a high rise hotel in 9 months. You can prepare for a space mission in 9 months. You can even topple a foreign government in 9 months. 9 months existed between the time Bush was inaugurated, to the time of 9/11. Surely, he could have acted on this intelligence. Instead he chose not to, relegating it to a triviality when it should have been elevated to the highest priority.
Whatever success the “War on Terror” is currently enjoying is the direct result of the Clinton administration’s open forum on sharing intelligence between agencies, and their investment in intelligence infrastructure. Of course will conservatives ever admit this? No. They, would rather unduly place blame on the past, then worry about rectifying problems that exist currently. Theirs is not a “War on Terror” as much as it is a “War To Cover Up Their Own Error”

I think I'd be more apt to believe what you say if you had some sort of documentation to back it up. I think the blame for 9/11, first and foremost, goes on Osama Bin Laden and his bunch of Al Qaida trash. Let's not forget who did this to America. You'd think with all the politicizing of the event that Bill Clinton or George W. Bush themselves drove the planes into the towers.
Secondly, Americans had been lulled into a false sense of security since the early 90's. Other than the first generally failed terrorist plot against the WTC, America at home was generally a safe place. No one could have realized entirely what was being planned--and yes, both presidents should have been looking for the warnings, but both didn't.
To put blame on one president and not another is incredulous and illogical. Clinton was too concerned with pleasing the rest of the world--Bush has been hasn't been concerned enough about it.
And now we realize that the world is not as friendly a place as the America of the 90's once thought. North Korea, Iran and Syria represent some of those countries that hate us and hate our way of life. Perhaps that is the mistake our presidents, and we as a people have made, ignoring those who have wanted to destroy our way of life for a long, long time.

Well, the Republicans spent 8 years and millions of dollars going after CLINTON and all they could come up with was the Lewinscky affair. They had the FBI and a Special Prosicuter(KEN STARR) going after Clinton instead of follwing the trail after the first trade center bombing. If they spent the time and money going after the terrorists(Republican controlled congress) they could of prevented 911.If there was ever a case for impeachment it is your current man in the WHITE HOUSE.His cabinet should also be held accountable for their role in this huge mess the USA finds itsef in.Clinton was 100% better on a bad day than BUSH is on his best day

Great point you have there. Bottom line is Clinton can no longer be blamed for 9/11. It happened and now we are in an even worse predicament than the day of the attacks. What we need to do is move forward and let go of pointing the blame finger,

It was only a few months into his Presidency when we were attacked. MAYBE when the new administration was being briefed - Osama wasn't made out to be as big of a threat as he apparently was.
Fast forward to NOW - our President is doing EVERYTHING in his power to make us safe. I think he is doing all the right things and we will have peace through strength - terrorists will know they should not mess with us.

the comparable reason Dems blame Bush, for political motives. Clinton did some issues that helped that attack to take place little doubt, notwithstanding it is likewise actuality that Bush went into workplace no longer taking them heavily. notwithstanding neither get rid of from the reality that finally it become the terrorist who did the attack and are finally accountable. there are circumstances whilst i think partisan politics do greater harm than reliable to this us of a. we ought to continually be united searching for victory extremely than enjoying the blame pastime.

Dick Clarke is not an expert on terrorism that's why he lost his job, losing his job is the reason he feels it is necessary to bad mouth Bush and lie about the facts. President Bush was in office 8 months and it takes time to set up an administration especially when the previous administration acted like a bunch of high school football jocks and damaged millions of dollars of govt. equipment. The Clinton administration did not leave a plan to deal with terrorism and the only ones who believe they did are the Bush haters. If you libs will face up to reality it took your hero longer than 8 months to unzip his pants.

The Battle of Tora Bora took place in December 2001, during the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. It's there that Osama bin Laden was thought to be hiding, but he escaped capture and death.
That at the battle of Tora Bora, where bin Laden was surrounded on three sides, Special Forces received no order to advance and capture him and were forced to stand and watch as two Russian-made helicopters flew into the area where bin Laden was believed hiding, loaded up passengers and returned to Pakistan, demonstrates how confusing the modern battlefield can be.
That upon returning to Fort Bragg from Tora Bora, the same Special Operations troops who had been stood down from capturing bin Laden, suffered a unusual spree of murder/suicides, is nothing more than a series of senseless tragedies.

I'm an independent so being Dem. or Rep. is irrelevant to me. However, It gripes my butt when Dems. charge it all to Bush, when he hadn't been in office that long and Clinton ignored the whole thing for 8 years. I think they are both at fault but Clinton more so than Bush. Why do people have to play politics to the point of stupidity? Especially these high school students who don't have a clue except to hear stupid older people spiel there ignorance.

Bush failed to get Osama bin Laden,, his Iraq invasion has turned into a civil war,, the deficit is the largest ever in history,, he has failed at diplomacy, and allowed Pyongyang to obtain nuclear weapons,, Bush is a like a schoolyard bully with a faithful gang in tow, that beats up smaller kids,, and caused the whole school to start fighting each other, and now,, one boy has brought his daddy's loaded gun to the fight,,, what to do now,, the teachers and authorities need to get involved,, Bush is cornered,, time to go in and get him and his cronies,, and take them to the woodshed,, Kim Jong il should be dealt with by someone with gravities like Bill Clinton,, he could calm the waters,,,,,,,,
