After 7pm and before 5am, especially on Sunday evenings. Less people are using energy during those times, and so they need to buy less electricity (which can be expensive) from other sources. Some areas offer discounts for using energy during low-peak hours. See the link below for this and other energy-saving tips.

After 7pm as most people are using the most power from 3pm to 7pm.

Also using cold water will save on power costs. Running a gas dryer will also save costs both in power and reduce the wear on clothing. A front loading washer uses approx 5 gal of water compared to 20+ for top loaders, and they clean better using less power and detergent than top loaders.

The cost of energy is the same day or night. But, the demand for energy does change. It is true that after supper there is usually less demand than during the day when businesses are open and those who are lucky enough to be home are doing housework. I usually do my laundry after work or on weekends, because that's when I have time.

it's an incomplete conclusion. anytime that less people are using power saves energy. I would expect early afternoon 'til about nine at night is heavy drain time. Middle of the night would be best or early day because most people working or sleeping or reading newspaper etc. thinking they should get off butt and do laundry. not doing laundry, projects with power tools, cooking dinner etc.so between nine at night and noon. the time when very few are doing their's unless of course you live in a neightbourhodd ful of insonmniacs

I've never heard of a method of using less electricity via time of day although some utilities do charge a lower amount per kilowatt hour on off-hours.
However, I guess if you live in a really cold climate and use the warm or hot water settings to wash your clothes it would require more energy to get the water to the appropriate temperature.
BTW I do not recommend using HOT water to wash anything and I only use warm water to wash towels, sheets, socks, and underwear. Use COLD on any clothes you like enough to wear more than a few times.

same energy anytime. The difference is the load on the system during business hrs. To avoide spikes some areas request doing laundry later. Some power providers are introducing 'inteligent' meters that 'discount' after hrs power...

Our kilowatt usage price drops after 8 pm, on weekends, and on holidays. (Ameren UE, Missouri.) You can also save energy by doing all the laundry in one day while the dryer is hot so it can dry clothes in a shorter amount of time. The cheaper thing should be answered on your bill though.

You don't save on your bills . It applies to times when it is hot and everyone has air on pulling alot of power. The less power drawn during peak comsumption time {business hours] the better chance of not having a power outage.
