Recommend opening a document as read-only
1Open the document.
2On the File menu, click Save As.
3Click Options.
4Select the Read-Only Recommended check box, and then click OK.
5Click Save.
What this does is protect your original. Someone else can open it up, and make changes, but have to save them as a new document, they cannot change the original document under the original file name.
