You need to use Turabian... good luck ... it is kinda tricky... you use footnotes

Most college professors in History like Turabian style, it is a lot like Chicago but with a few varieties. For history, you would use the footnote rather than the parenthetical citation form of Turabian. In high school, most people just use MLA ( parenthetical citation).

Turabian or Chicago for History. MLA is terrible and visually unappealing for History papers. Its also difficult to read. APA is pretty stupid too. Not to belittle Psych folk out there, but it is bad. Chicago and the offshoot of that style, Turabian, is the most beautiful style and the clearest to understand.

What format for your works cited page? Some of the various formats are MLA, APA, Chicago, Turabian, etc. In college I've used all of them for various classes. Each department/field typically has its own preference. And most teachers will let you know in the syllabus or in the instructions. My advice reread your assignment and see if it says in the instructions which format/style of documentation to use OR ask your teacher to clarify what he/she is expecting. That would be better than anybody's opinion on Yahoo Answers telling you which format to use!

Most likely you are going to use research materials such as:

Encyclopedias
Journals
Books
Historical sites

Works Cited just means a list of the items/sources you used to write your paper.

it depends upon the professor. every professor prefers different styles. they should have told you which is their preference, if they have one. if you have time, then you should ask them.
