having a baby is the most natural thing in the world !
baby's are being born all over the place as i type this
If you have a good midwife with you,
who shows you ,how to breath ,as the baby is crowning
( you pant through your mouth a bit like a dog )
you will be far less likely to have to have stitches .
do you go to anti- natal classes ??
they are extremely helpful , giving you confidance,
to look forward to your babies safe & comfortable arrival
I have had four babies, so i speak from experience
I have never had to have stitches
child birth does hurt ,
but make sure you have the pain relief that is available.
Discus your fears with your doctor or midwife .
good luck and if you have time,
let us know, how you and your baby are .

the only painful bit is the injection that they give you to numb the area, they gave me gas and air for that, but o my god at that point you have just been through labour so its really not that bad. Afterwards the pain is manageable just have lots of warm baths with salt in the water. And as for your chances of having stitches you cant really tell, I had stitches with my first daughter who was 7 lb 4 and i didnt with my second who was 8 lb 9 so there doesnt seem to be a pattern, they do say to rub some sort of oil into your perineum to help prevent tearing or having to be cut. But dont refuse to be cut because if you tear you will probably need a lot more stitches inside and out !!!

Most people get stitches after labor. But I didn't feel any pain from the stitches and I had 23 of them. I tore myself doing labor, so don't push until they say push.

A lot of people need stitches. I am pregnant with my third baby, and I needed stitches with my first two. I really didn't notice them. They put in the stitches that dissolve an their own.
If you are scared of the labor, then get an epidural, then you won't feel it.

Some need stitches, some don't.
Talk to your midwife about what you can do to reduce your chances of needing stitches- you can massage your perineum with something- but I can't remember what it is, and that will help you to stretch more easily.
Don't worry about your labour. You will be able to handle it.

It depends there is a technique that your doctor can do while you are laboring and begin to push he massages you down there and it helps to relaxes things and spreads easier ( i know it sounds dirty but I cant think of the tech), I had to have stiches and they didn't hurt at all after pushing and stuff your body is so worn out you can't think of anything else. Hang in there.

Each labor and delivery is different. I got 9 stitches with my first, but none with my second.

buck up honey it is all worth it in the long run. they say u forget the pain the second ur child is in ur arms. as for stiches i'd say 99% sure u will but u won't know about them, they just dissolve on there own.
