Yes they are in my yard in the summer sometimes. I just killed on about a month ago. I live deep in the country.
I'm in North Carolina.

I've seen a rattlesnake but I live in the desert in New Mexico and like to hike so they're not that uncommon here. Generally, though, they hear you before you see or hear them and they slither away before you ever know they were there. I've seen only 2 in 23 years of living here.
Despite that, I've seriously considered buying my dog the rattlesnake vaccine. It takes two shots but, once you get it for your dog, the dog is more likely to survive if actually bitten by a rattlesnake.

I see rattlesnakes in Los Angeles when I go hiking. Only on very hot days though. If you ignore them, they ignore you. I've seen them 3 times in 10 years.
When I was at a restaurant in Dallas, I had one for an appetizer. It tasted like clams.

The only snakes I've ever seen were in a zoo and in my living room. I own a corn snake named Slim. No rattlesnakes.

When I lived in Utah and would go hiking in Zion and other desert areas, you would see them...but like others have said...leave em alone and they will leave you alone. Personally, every time I saw one, I would just turn around and run away screaming like a 10 year old girl...but that's just me.

I see them all the time. I live in the area of Arizona that has all seven species. Roadrunners, by the way, love to chase and eat them. I leave them alone, and they leave me alone. You do have to be extra careful when they shed their skins - they get a bit testy...
